Resort World

On January 20 Resort World in Sentosa had its soft opening. It's going to be 6 hotels, a casino and a Universal Studios theme park. I went today with Leonie to see it...and so far only four of the hotels are open. BUT it looks awesome! I felt like I was in vegas again. There are shops, restaurants, casino, and convention center all in one! And there's a Hard Rock hotel!

But the best part of this whole story is there is a Victoria's Secret!!

Now almost all of my favorite stores are here...Forever 21, Banana Republic, Sephora, Aldo, Zara, Steve Madden and now Victoria's Secret!! I only wish there was an Anthropology...

Resort World was great...and theres a bus that takes you from this awesome mall Vivo City straight to Resort World. I cannot wait until Universal Studios is open...it may be the highlight of my life in SG.

To finish off an exciting day we went to Far East Plaza to do some shopping. Far East is a mall filled with tiny boutiques with cute clothes, shoes and kitschy accessories...also crazy electronic stuff. I bought tons of stuff today but ended up only spending like USD50!! Everything I bought was between 10-20 sing dollars. I love shopping at Far East...its like the only affordable mall in SG. How cute are my things?! I only wish I was the same size as singaporean ppl so I could wear their crazy free size/one size fits all things.

Today was the first good day of the week! and it'll probably be the only as I have to go to work tomorrow...on my day off. No bueno! xxoo

beach day!

Ok maybe i was a bit harsh on singapore yesterday. Maybe if everyone learned to be more considerate, polite and compassionate it would be great.
I had an amazing day today....well except for the sunburn. Today was great....laying on the beach all day at Azzura Beach Club. The place is covered in comfy couches and day beds....and there is no minimum fee to spend to sit down. Theres even a pool and water sports. How beautiful is that?!

comfy chairs right by the ocean

before we both got lobster red!

beach decadence....

how hilarious is this swan bed?! and you have to reserve it before hand thats how popular it is

there was a randomly a foam pool! but we were only in there for a second bc im pretty sure the little kids were in there peeing....

I think i'm going to be a regular of this beach club...i only wish it was easier to get too. Can't wait until next weekend...we have another beach trip planned! I only have to get through this horror of a work week...until next time, xxoo!

10 things I hate about you

Dear Singapore,

I am sorry I tried as hard as I could to like you but i don't think we can be friends. You and I just not meant to be.

I hate how the weird smell of durian follows me around.

I hate how no one ever holds the door, or gives way...instead you walk into me as if i don't exist

I hate how you always kick me when I am down, and you enjoy it.

I hate how you pick your nose in public as if no one else coud see you.

I hate how crowded you are.

I hate how far away you are from America.

I hate how you made up a language and try to pass it off as English...guess what you're not speaking English.

I hate how materialistic and shallow you are.

I hate how HOT you are.

But most of all, I hate how I am stuck here without a choice.

Singapore...I am sorry, its you not me. We aren't going to last.

Marche!

LOVE!!! Its inside my favorite new mall 313...seriously this place cannot get any better. Marche is amazing...its my new my favorite restauramt. Its like a marketplace full of amazing food stations, and its all western food! Its super cute and decorated like a swiss farmhouse, and you get this fun swipey card when walk in. Inside its like a food court BUT you just use your swipe card and you can get a bit of everything...crepes, pizza, pasta, fresh veggies, soup, fresh baked bread and of course meat things. There is also a station of freshmade drinks, and an amazing dessert station with fondue!! Then when you're done and ready to leave you just hand them your swipe card and pay. The whole experience makes me nostlagic for dorm days...but with GREAT food. I think we need to franchise this in america!!

last day of splurging

My new year's resolution for 2010 is to spend less money...and maybe to eat less desserts...but only maybe because i LOVE desserts!

i spent a ton of money shopping/taking taxis/eating/pampering myself in the months i've been in singapore...always telling myself that i deserved it because my life sucked here (which it doesn't but i like to pretend that it does). but who am i kidding...i would've spent just that much at home probably. anyways i decided that 2010 wont actually start for me until monday...and i could pretend this weekend was part of 2009. starting tomorrow i will make a conscious effort to save money i promise! but today i spent SGD150 and bought the greatest things....

1. a blackberry!! so its just the blackberry 8520, a super basic blackberry...but i'm super excited to use it. i do feel a bit sad for my iphone. i'm even more excited that it was only SGD48.00! now all i have to do is figure out how to use it.

2. a great charles & keith purse. you have no idea how in love with this store i am. its so affordable and so trendy. its a great place to buy trendy shoes and accessories...its the like the forever 21 of accessories! i've been eyeing this bag and finally decided to get it. and as it was the display bag i got a discount!!

3. two super cute dresses from bysi. bysi is by far my fave singapore clothing brand. at first i was shocked it was singaporean...but like charles and keith i adore it. and they were having the greatest sale today! i scored two dresses for SGD50.00...super cheap! the only sad thing was i saw this cute blouse i bought a few weeks ago on sale for 70% off. but we're not going to think about it, instead we're going to think about how much i love this brand.

and to end the perfect day of shopping i ate at my new favorite food court at 313 (my way of "saving money", spending SGD4.00 on a meal). this was the perfect weekend of tv watching and shopping...so not looking forward to work tomorrow. until next time kiddies...xxoo!

Hello 2010!

Hello 2010, it's great to meet you. I can't believe 2009 is over. Not just because this was a year of great change for me...but its the end of a decade, the first whole decade I can remember. We call the 1990s the nineties...but what to we call the 2000s...the zeroes? the ohs? Whatever they were called the 2000s were great and I can't wait to see what the 2010s will bring. Although it does kind of scare me that when the 2010s are over I'll be into my thirties!

The 10 things I'm looking forward to in 2010:

1. Spending one more year in my AMAZING apartment!! I know I need savor this experience, because I'm never going to get to live like this again. I <3 you, apartment.

2.Using my awesome facial package at Body Contours. I love facials...and I LOVE packages. Packages are everywhere in singapore...you can get everything in a package. Do you like massages? Get a massage package. Do you like manicures? Get a manicure package. Do you like waxing? Get a waxing package. You get the idea. Packages save you money...and it guarantees more pampering time for yourself. Singapore is great for pampering.
And I finally found I place that I like in Singapore after 5 months! It was hard to do...but after buying a ton of trial facials from roadshows...I found this place which is again just an underground tunnel walk away from my apartment.  First facial of my package today, and it was great! Super relaxing except for the fact that my phone rang twice (it was on vibrate) and I imagined some crazy work emergency was happening. Note to self turn off the vibration on my phone next time.

3. Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. I love the olympics...there's something about those athletes who can be so dedicated to a sport. I can't wait to watch figure skating! I hope they show the olympics in singapore! And how cute are these mascots!

4. Travelling around Southeast Asia. Since I'm stuck here in Singapore...I might as well travel around asia right? Bring on the sand sun and beaches! I hope I can make it to Thailand, Bali, the Philippines, the Maldives, Langkawi, and maybe Camboida again. And even though this isn't Southeast Asia...I definitely want to go to Australia again!! First trip...thailand with the mommy in february!

5. Working in the catering department. *cross you fingers* that I get to stay there for the majority of time left here.

6. Buying a nuddle....the high class snuggie. I covet it! Don't you want one??

7. Resort World opening in Sentosa!! I am so excited for Universal Studios Singapore to open...there is going to be a "Hollywood" and a "New York"...its like a little bit of home in Singapore. It looks awesome...and I love theme parks! I hope it will be more like the Universal Studios in Orlando with A TON of rides. The only thing is I bet by the time it opens...it'll be waaay too hot to spend an entire day outside.

8. Eclipse! I love the twilight series...I don't care what anyone says. They're great and you know you love them. And ok I may be a little obsessed with kstew and rpattz but who isnt?

ok and i love her shoes here!

9. Marina Bay Sands! I cannot wait until the first casino in Singapore opens. Not because I love gambling or anything...but I do miss casinos like Las Vegas where great food, entertainment and shopping are all grouped together in one awesome hotel. Oh and I so miss things being open 24hours. And I'm so glad I carry a US passport. Singaporeans have to pay SGD150.00 to go into the casino! Craziness.

10. What I'm most looking forward to this year is just enjoying life. My life is great...I am maybe one of luckiest graduates of the 2009 and I need to appreciate it more. Singapore is nice in its own way...and I know this year is going to bring great things!
